TNC25 in Brighton - Thursday 12/6-2025 | Pictures from the other days |
My morning session is on sustainability, presented by Claire Casey from Jisc
The progress of HEAnet in this field is presented by Dónai Cunningham
Anke Friedrich from GÉANT talks about what they are doing
Raising awareness for the relatively new SIG-Sustainability
A coffee with Carlos Guzman from CEDIA in Ecuador
Lightning Talks - second strike. Starting with Ariela Herček from Arnes who has brought her Ukulele to the stage
And she ends he talk by singing a song. A bold move which is very popular with the audience.
Richard Freytag from Sunet has a slide deck of 20 slides for his 5 minute presentation - but he is a pro and ends the whole thing in perfect timing
A new development of the lightning talk format is this McPanel where each speaker answers to questions from the moderator.
...and this is actually a nice addition that helps the audience recapture and remember what messages the speakers had
Brian Nisbet (HEAnet) is moderating a round of student contributions
It still takes a while to get used to...
In teh break, at the exchange theater with headphones, Lars Fischer from NORDUnet is talking about ...
Valter Nordh, CEO of NORDUnet, together with the CEO of REANNZ, Amber McEwen
Olga Popcova (RENAM) together Tetiana Preobrazhenska from URAN in Ukraine
She is the only representative from her country in the conference. We must continue to support Ukraine and the hard-working colleagues in URAN as long as the war goes on!
Niall O'Reilly from RIPE and - again - Olga
Ann Harding from Switch - another long-standing member of our community standing in the long queue for the good coffee
Caroline Tuhwezaine and her coleagues from RENU in Uganda
Evelien Renders from SURF is - yet again - peddling her flyer about interopability and mobility between universities
One of the people from the Sunet/NORDUnet NOC in Sweden they only rarely let out of the building: Salu Upadhyay
Representatives of the many people behind the organization of the conference, whom we owe so much whitout even being aware: Jessie Brockhoff and Steffie Bosman from
GÉANT
Yet again Champagne at the GÉANT booth - this time to celebrate the ISO27001 certification
Per Nihlén from Sunet and Ed Moynihan from Indiana University
More freinds from the US: Yatish Kumar (ESnet) and James Daeton (Internet2)
A slide like this gives me perspective. One country is so insignificant is has to be at the bottom right slide: My country
Another novelty at this TNC: The closing keynote is replaced by a panel on global networking
which turns out to be a refreshing novelty.
...an epitaph over Boubakar Barry (WACREN) who died at the young age of 65
Head of the TNC25 programme committee Ieva Muraskiene (NORDUnet) thanks the speakers and the programme committee for their contributions
And finally comes what we have all been waiting for: The location of the next TNC:
Helsinki 8th to 12th of June 2026
The very good introductory film is accompanied by a few words from Kimmo Koski, CEO of CSC.
And as tradition has it, a baton is passed from this year's organiser (Heidi Krauss from Jisc) in the form of a rainbow-coloured umbrella from Brighton
Afterwards, Kimmo Koski is looking forward to the prospect of hosting TNC and relieved that he doesn't have to get the umbrella through airport security, as he has
given it to Juha Oinonen.
Leaving the Brighton Dome for the last time
