TNC26 in Helsinki - Thursday 11/6-2026 | Pictures from the other days |

A commercial for SIG-MSP - one of the most important things GÉANT is doing - my Michel Wets
from SURF

The many meetings could not have been done without the consistent and professional effort of the
PCSS staff - in this instance Krzysztof Barycza. We owe him and his colleagues a lot of gratitude.

My morning session is all about Time and Frequency distribution, led by Guy Roberts (GÉANT)

Hosted by Ariela Herček (ARNES)

The whole thing is live streamed and recorded and freely available.

The other co-host: Renato Furter from SWITCH

Our very own Thorkild Jensen from DeiC

...presenting the newly developed open source and license free VCMS called MediaCMS.

Radu Velcea (GÉANT) talks about how easily trust (illustrated by a balloon)...

People are often being named as a security risk, but this is not a productive way to view the problem

In my opinion probably the best lightning talk of the day...

...came from Grace Gausi from the NREN of Malawi

about the problem common to all NRENS: How do you create a sens of belonging to a community among the
users?

This - most important problem - can also be engineered like other engineering problems we
have to tackle. This was a really refreshing view on how to create a community.

The trend of having speakers in pairs has now also entered the lightning talks

Garvan McFeely (ASIERA), Eva Nestorovska (PCSS) and Maria Ristkok (EEnet) guarding carefully their
lunch boxes

The most dilligent GÉANT employee must be Jessie Brockhoff who as been standing at the silent
disco and handed out headphones for the whole conference.

The "Ukraine charity shop" where people have donated more than 10000 euros to be handed by the Vietsch
foundation to URAN and this will be doubled by NORDUnet. I like the fact that this is not just
"company money" but people privately showing support this way.

SIG-PA at the community hub, chaired by Leonie Schaefer from DFN

My next session is - incidentally - also at the community hub, titæled "Building Smarter Networks"
and charied by Ivana Golub (PCSS)

Gustavo Hermínio de Araújo (RNP)

In my view, he is among the real heros at the conference, since it takes a lot of guts to do
a live command line based online demo.

Tanja Maier (GÉANT) run a feature about how the NRENs and GÉANT themselves are sharing
their own data

People gathering for the closing plenary

...and Charles I ultimately missed his head

Dirk Haex (Belnet) has been head of the programme committee and thanks them and as them to stand up
and get some applause

And then the revelation of the location for the next TNC...

which will be hosted in collaboration between Belnet and RESTENA

Tradition has it that the TNC host gives a present to the new, but it was not really revealed what
Kimmo Koski had put in the shopping bags

Wildlife just outside the conference venue
